Been carrying Kershaws for several years now. Currently have a kershaw Kai in my pocket, got it from a camp set. My other every day is a Kershaw CQC-6K. Lost my first one bought another then found the old one. Both hold an edge well, once I put a good one on it.

I am thinking about getting another EDC knife. A few items I am looking for are S30v or better steel, a deep carry pocket clip, and non serrated blade length at or under 3 1/2". A few features that would be nice, but are not necessarily a deal breaker are assisted opening, black coated blade, black pocket clip. I would like to stay under $150.

I am looking at Benchmade, Kershaw, and even ZT, but Buck makes one that fits all my criteria except for assisted opening.
This is a leading option right now.

Check out the Kershaw Blur and Spyderco Manix 2. The Spyderco isn't assisted open, but opens fast with little effort. I have both and they are very nice.

No, but BM makes a high quality knife. The S30V steel is good stuff, keeps a sharp edge. I find it slightly more difficult to sharpen, but not much. I'm also a fan of the AXIS locking system.

I like the blue color!
I like this color, but I think this one is a little small for what I am looking for in an EDC blade after watching a few videos on it. I currently carry a S30v steel knife and agree about the edge retention and sharpening. I think if I go with a Benchmade it will be a Barrage. I am trying to decide if the Axis lock is worth about $50 more than the Buck Vantage Pro I posted in this thread when I mentioned I am looking for a new carry knife. The BM Barrage and the Vantage Pro are very similar with the BM having about a 1/4" longer blade and the Axis lock.

I don't have any info on the Buck. I bought a Mini Barrage last year but returned it. Too small for me. I think the Barrage is an all around great EDC size. Great knife though! Very well made and sharp.

I have carried the Vantage Pro for several years, the Vantage Force Pro fixes the two issues I have with the Pro model, mainly rougher handle scales and jimping on the flipper and spine of the blade. It is still my top pick, but I am still researching.

Yes, unless you want one for $75 with free shipping :p

Kershaw Guy

This is where I buy mine from. Great service!
I saved that link. That just become a leading contender when I make my final choice. It has everything I was initially looking for, except a black oxide blade, which was not a deal breaker for me. Now the decision is the Axis lock on a Benchmade worth almost double the cost?:);)
