Shot a couple boxes of this the other day, through both my Shield and my Hi Point carbine. Through both of them, the fired cases had a big soot streak on one side, from the case mouth tapering off towards the base.

I've not noticed this with any other ammo. Some googling finds that this could be an indicator of low pressure rounds, not fully seating the case as it fires.

Anyone else seen this with this brand?

I've only got a few more boxes of it, so it won't be a big issue. Lately Herter's at Cabala's has been my main range round, when I can get a good deal on it, but this Federal had a good price at Wally World.

I've shot several boxes of it, didn't notice anything unusual. I'll pay more attention to the cases next time I shoot some.

I've shot a lot of that stuff, it is usually the cheapest brass at Wally-world.

Now I normally shoot out to 7yds with a pistol, so it would be hard to notice a difference at that range.

I've read that Federal Champion is under powered compared to Federal American Eagle. I've had the Federal Champion not cycle right in .45, never had a problem with the Federal American Eagle.

I shoot it a lot (in .45 ACP) and nothing unusual but as Sundrop said, I'll pay more attention to the cases.

I haven't noticed anything major with that ammo. I have shot a lot of it, Walmart usually has a good deal on it.

I bought 500 rounds of Herter's 9mm from Cabela's on a special a few years ago. I like it, seemed on the hot side.
