I made a new holster...

  • It has been a long and eventful year. Lets put a safe close to 2017 and open 2018 with a blast!

...for my V-Bob. I felt like carrying it in kydex and I wanted to make one with the mag holder as part of it. This way they will stabilize each other. I used "coyote brown" 0.080" kydex and some ABS injection molded clips. I'm not sure how I like the clips yet, as this is the first time I have used them.

It's difficult to tell from these photos, but I put a curve on it so that if fit up front nicely without throwing the grip out away from me too far.

Not only do I get bored with what firearm I am carrying and switch to something else, I get bored with the gear that I am carrying it in and change that too.

I like how the grip is completely clear of the holster. Looks like it’d be good on the draw, as long as the holster doesn’t want to torque forward.

I like it..

Do you think the magazine release needs a to be covered?
Not really. It depends on the gun. If you have one that the button is easily activated, then I might be concerned. This one doesn't, so the partial coverage is something I am fine with. Especially since this holster doesn't really move around. If I was rolling OWB where it could hit my belt, then I would be more concerned about it.

I see the curve. I've ordered a Bravo Concealment "Torsion" that uses the curve to hug the grip to your body. We'll see how it works.

As for the rest, this is a very practical design that bears watching to see how you like it. The only caveat I can offer is the use of rivets to attached your J clips that will possibly be your weakest link in the chain. Naturally, time will tell but overall you're really on to something good here. I like the rear of the slide coverage. IMO very important.

Nice work.

That is a good looking design. I like how you molded it to have the safety on and as others have said full slide coverage on the back and nothing interfering with the grip. Normally on this type of design I see a tension adjustment screw in between the gun and mag. I assume you molded your holster so that it initially doesn't need any adjustment at that point. I have used clips in the past like you used on your design. I started using the Raven belt clips and like them a lot better. Good design, I hope it works for you.
