Anyone every try either the pistol or rifle mag loaders from ETS?

They pick up 10 rounds at a time and push them in withe the plunger. I can see how this works with the rifle mags, kinda curious how it works for the pistol mags.

cool idea, but you still have to load the loader to load the magazine. i can load a 30 round mag in just about 2 minutes.

only reason i can see having one is if you have issues with your hands arthritis/ missing digits.

I use an Uplula for pistol mags. I have seen a different version of this idea where you can pick up the rounds directly out of the shell holders. They load as fast as the empty into the mag. It is the same motion to load the rounds onto the loader as it is to load the mag. The rounds have to be nose down in the shell holder for this one to work.

Uplula is a great option for pistol magazines. Their rifle magazine loaders aren't bad. I just don't see the need to own one though.

I only have one because my FIL is fairly new to pistols and was struggling to load the mags. I had already developed the skill to load the mags with my thumb, but he struggled to learn this skill. He is not detail oriented and sometimes has to learn tasks the hard way. I split the cost of an Uplula with him primarily to help him. I received another one from the secret Santa on here and now we both have one. It does make it easier to top off my fullsize double stack mags, but my single stacks are all loaded using my thumb. Even on my doubles stack mags, it is still quicker for me to use my thumb until I get to the last 2-3 rounds.

With the StripLula you can use stripper clips and don't need a spoon since that function is built into the device and it is very compact. If you buy your rounds already on stripper clips - or load up your own strippers from bulk ammo or reloads then this is about as easy as it get.

    Others like this -

    or this -

(which is about the most compact example of that style I have seen) - in my opinion would be better suited for someone who has to load MANY magazines, such as the schlep working on the gun range with rentals who has to load hundreds of mags a day.

Pistol magazines: loaders are beneficial--as anyone with a Ruger 22/45 or MARK ;)

Rifle mags, I guess I don't see it as a necessary piece of gear

    Stripper Clips are pretty fast.

A Bench Loader would be nice for a range trip.
But -- the time it takes to load the trough, a magazine could be loaded.
