I've decided to get a Kyocera phone. Amazon has it listed for $176 and Verizon wants $476. Can I buy it on the interwebs and have Verizon turn it on? What will Verizon try to do for not buying their phone?

My sister bought me an iPad at Target with the wrong SIM card. Verizon didn't bat an eye, switched it out for free. They didn't give a hoot where the IPad came from. Hopefully the phone will be the same. I've been very pleased with them the few times I went in with a question. However I can't talk on the iPad and there's no contract, just month to month.

Just make sure it's compatible with Verizon's network. I believe Sprint, Verizon and US Cellular use CDMA. AT&T, T-Mobile and most of the rest of the world use GSM. So if it's an unlocked international phone, it may not work.

You should be good to go if it's a Verizon phone. No need to pay their absurdly high price.

Make sure that the radio is compatible or you could end up with a nice phone that only does 3g data....

I ended up with DuraForce Pro. Pretty much hard to hurt phone. Can't break the screen and will take pictures to 30' of water. The kind I need, dropped it trying to put in the holster the first time
